Narayani Amma

Arul Thiru SAKTHI AMMA, affectionately known to all as Sakthi Narayani Amma, is an esteemed and well-known spiritual leader in India.  In 1995 Narayani Amma founded a spiritual center near Vellore, a city in Southern India, called the Sri Narayani Peedam.  The Peedam is devoted to the development of the mind, body and spirit of this region's 4 million men, women and children.

Sakthi Narayani Amma has declared and demonstrated commitment to improving these people's most pressing problems that encompass every aspect of their lives.

The programs that will be described and shown in detail are inspired, planned, and established under the guidance of Sakthi Narayani Amma.

Throughout the world people go hungry for lack of food and have limited access to education, healthcare and career opportunities - all qualities of life that most Americans take for granted. In America we have the resources to address many of the needs of our people but lack the time or the will to do so. In this, as in many other parts of the world, often the will is present, but the resources are lacking. One such region is the southern part of India near the town of Vellore. 

Programs and Activities

Divine Love World Charity Inc. provides general support to Amma’s humanitarian projects by periodically transferring contributions received from donors directly to the Om Sakthi Narayani Siddar Peedam Charitable Trust established in India by Amma in 1995. The majority of transfers are of unrestricted funds, thereby providing maximum flexibility for use in the high priority projects as determined by Narayani Amma. From time to time funds are designated as restricted for specific purposes such as Tsunami Aid that was provided immediately after the disaster that occurred on December 26, 2004 and has continued throughout the year.   Since the incorporation of Divine Love World Charity, Inc. in 2003 the projects listed below are examples of how these funds have been utilized:

• Purchased supplies and equipment to both build and support the Sri Narayani Hospital and Research Centre
• Feeding of the thousands who come to the Peedam daily for nourishment
• Provide supplies and clothing to children in the orphanage supported by Amma
• Provide supplies and clothing to the children attending Amma’s two schools
• Free health outreach programs in villages with no other access to medical care
