Sakthi Amma’s Reforestation Program

Ecological imbalances are the current issue that are of great concern to humanity all over the world.  “Save our trees – Save our Earth” is the only solution.  In conjunction with this Amma has launched a reforestation program, under the guidance of the Indian Government’s Forest Department, to develop a green belt in and around Vellore valley.  The project also provides employment opportunities to the local villages in developing and protecting the forest cover, and in educating villagers in making a livelihood out of eco-friendly and recyclable natural resources without deforesting.

Water Program

Since the summer of 2002, the town of Vellore has experienced severe shortages of drinking water. Amma has supplied critically needed water to over 100,000 people through the purchase of drinking water and arranging for its delivery using large tanker trucks.  Each summer Amma has delivered over 50,000 gallons of water to this region, providing safe drinking water every day for close to three months.  Amma has also made donations to assist various institutions in becoming self-sufficient by digging wells and improving rainwater harvesting and sanitation facilities.
